Blind Sided

Blind Sided

BLINDSIDED is a term we use to say that “we didn’t see it coming”…

It literally means… to hit someone who is facing in another direction suddenly and very hard; to catch someone unprepared; attacked from an unexpected position.

When we think of being BLINDSIDED we normally think of a car accident when we didn’t see it coming or perhaps for all of my west coast ppl…an earthquake that literally catches everyone off guard.

What’s most devastating, frustrating, and even confusing is when we are BLINDSIDED from what seems like the safest of places: MARRIAGE…one moment things seem fine, the next your spouse is walking out the door with all their possessions in a box…or our closest and most intimate FRIENDSHIPS…. one day all seems fine, the next day folk walking away…

Has anybody ever been BLINDSIDED???

It’s one thing to reap what you have sown and then try to label it as being Blindsided and then it is quite another to being doing EXACTLY what Jesus instructed you to do and then out of nowhere…BOOM!

Matthew 8:24 Then, WITHOUT WARNING, a furious storm arose on the lake, so that waves were sweeping over the boat….but Jesus was asleep ON THE BOAT.

The lie Satan feeds us is that God cannot be a loving God if He allows us to suffer. The truth is that God NEVER PROMISED us that we WOULDN’T have to go thru storms…He NEVER PROMISED us that we WOULDN’T have to walk thru the valley of the shadow of death…He NEVER PROMISED us that we WOULDN’T have to go thru the fire of oppression & affliction.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

The promise of this text is “all things working together”…“according to His purpose”.

Herein lies the sovereignty of God…sometimes He allows us to be BLINDSIDED by UNEXPECTED STORMS for our own “GOOD”.

This is why James writes in his letter, “Count it all joy when we fall into various trials…”

James 1: 2-4 Message
Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

So what is the purpose of our suffering….of being BLINDSIDED by the UNEXPECTED STORMS of LIFE???

It forces us to live out in the public what we say we believe about our God and His Word!!!

“For the just shall live by faith and not by sight”

As I was closing this sermon on yesterday, I was notified that my uncle in Miami had just passed away.

Those who preach the Word must also Live the Word…

BLINDSIDED…but not BETRAYED…for the LORD is with us.

God Bless You…Iron Sharpening Iron
